Ohio State already boasts the No. 2 recruiting class for 2021 with the Buckeyes hoping to land another top-50 prospect on Wednesday.

That player was outside linebacker Raesjon Davis, a player that is ranked No. 48 nationally by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Davis is also rated the No. 4 OLB nationally and No. 3 player from the state of California.

Unfortunately, Gabe Brooks with 247 Sports revealed Wednesday morning that Davis has committed to USC, choosing to stay home in California and play for the Trojans. Davis was also considering LSU, Ohio State, Vanderbilt, and Oregon.

While missing out on Davis hurts, Ohio State should be firmly entrenched at No. 2 on the team rankings for 2021. The Buckeyes boast five, 5-star recruits for the cycle, trailing only Alabama’s seven, 5-star recruits. Ohio State is also hoping to reel in 5-star DL J.T. Tuimoloau out of Washington, but his decision is still not expected until the spring.

Either way, Alabama has secured the top class for 2021 and it is a class that is the highest-ranked in the history of the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. However, Ryan Day and company should be commended for the work put into the 2021 class with the possibility of an even stronger recruiting class coming for the 2022 cycle.
