Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has been named one of the five finalist for the 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Candidates must be college seniors or fourth-year juniors on schedule to graduate with their class. In addition to on-field accomplishments, candidates are judged on character, citizenship, scholastic achievement and leadership.

Currently, Barrett is leading one of the nation’s most prolific offenses. Ohio State is third nationally in total offense at 546.5 yards per game, fifth in scoring at 44.2 points per game and 17th nationally in both passing and rushing at 301.2 and 245.3 yards per game, respectively.

Barrett is also fourth in the nation in touchdown passes (30) and fifth in completion percentage (67.4).

The Golden Arm Award will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, Dec. 8, at the Embassy Suites Baltimore Inner Harbor & The Grand, in Baltimore, Md.
