Monday night’s announcement on ESPN made it official that Justin Fields and Chase Young are headed to New York City as Heisman finalists.

The set of Ohio State teammates were unveiled as finalists for the prestigious award, alongside LSU and ex-Ohio State QB Joe Burrow and Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts. By most accounts, Burrow remains the heavy favorite to take home the award.

While Burrow may indeed go on to win the award, the combination of Fields and Young has done something that no other set of teammates has accomplished. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the two Buckeyes are the seventh set of teammates to finish as Heisman finalists in the same season. However, it is the first time ever that a team has had a player from both sides of the ball selected as a finalist in the same season:

There’s no denying each player is a leader for his respective unit. Fields accounted for 50 total touchdowns with just one interception while Young compiled 21 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks.
