Pat Fitzgerald reacts to Ohio State’s Sugar Bowl win, B1G’s impressive start to bowl season

The B1G had a down season in 2020, someone just forgot to inform the conference’s teams playing this bowl season!
In what has become a recurring theme in the national media, the conference was otherwise left for dead after the regular season concluded. Ohio State was slammed by media (and Clemson HC Dabo Swinney) for only playing six games while SEC teams continued to use the built-in excuses of opt-outs and not caring in bowl losses.
Meanwhile, the B1G has started this bowl season with a 3-0 mark. That includes wins by Wisconsin against Wake Forest and strong showings by Northwestern and Ohio State on Friday.
The Wildcats sent out defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz on a high note, blowing out SEC opponent Auburn in the Citrus Bowl. That game provided a bit of history for Fitz and his squad.
During Friday’s primetime action, Ryan Day led his Ohio State squad to a blowout of Clemson in the Sugar Bowl. That was especially surprising – for many outside the conference – as Justin Fields put on a show in the win.
Despite Ohio State getting to the CFP by beating Northwestern in the B1G Championship Game, Fitzgerald still reacted to the huge win by Day’s squad with conference pride. He put out a simple tweet Friday evening that might also be interpreted as a shot at the “SEC” chant heard in year’s prior:

Indiana will look to move the conference’s record to 4-0 in the Outback Bowl.
