Ohio State is replacing QB coach Mike Yurcich after he left to take the offensive coordinator job at Texas.

Yurcich spent just one season with the Buckeyes after serving as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State. While it is a loss to the staff of head coach Ryan Day, there are some reports that indicated it is not an unexpected loss.

Now, Pete Thamel with Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Day will fill the vacancy by promoting a current staff member. According to Thamel, assistant QB coach Corey Dennis will be promoted to fill the position:

While Dennis may fill the role, it is not surprising or unexpected for Day to remain heavily connected to the QB position or the offense as a whole. Going back to his stints at Boston College, as well as his two NFL stops, Day has made a name for himself in developing QBs and calling plays. That is not likely to change moving forward.

One interesting note about Dennis: he is the son-in-law of former head coach Urban Meyer and is married to Nicki Meyer. Nicki played volleyball collegiately at Georgia Tech while Dennis was a wide receiver for the Yellow Jackets.
