Drew Allar is helping Penn State prepare for what the team hopes is the start of a long Playoff run when the Nittany Lions host SMU on Saturday in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

However, he made news on Monday when he announced that he would be coming back to Happy Valley in 2025 to continue his collegiate career. There were thoughts that he would enter the 2025 NFL Draft, but that will not be the case, which is good news for Penn State fans.

During a press conference on Monday, he spoke about the decision to come back and said he is excited to have this decision out of the way.

“It’s best for my future and that sort of thing,” Allar said. “Glad I got this out of the way because I’m focused on SMU. …. Respectfully, this is the last I want to talk about it.”

This decision has led to a domino effect for Penn State, as backup quarterback Beau Pribula announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. In spite of playing throughout the season in a specific package on offense, Pribula will not be staying with the team throughout the Playoff push.

While Allar made the decision to come back next season, he has a lot of unfinished business in the 2024 season. Kickoff between SMU and Penn State will be on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET, and the game will be on TNT/Max.
