Drew Allar and Tyler Warren are big Penn State stars who also, naturally, have big dreams of one day playing in the NFL.

As in, very soon. But how soon? Well, that’s up to the individual player, and the Nittany Lions quarterback and tight end are very comfortable with how head coach James Franklin handles the delicate situations involving his draft-eligible players.

Allar has already announced he’s returning to Happy Valley for his senior season in 2025.

“At the end of the day, I think it’s that the feedback is never going to be skewed one way or the other based on what Penn State wants you to do. Coach Franklin does a great job of giving all the information, as much information as possible to guys who are having those decisions to make, and I think the one thing that he does is not just recruiting you. He’s giving you all the information out there that there is — the good and the bad — and what other people are saying and his personal opinion, but he’s always said don’t let what I say affect (you),” explained Allar during Saturday’s press conference leading up to the College Football Playoff semifinal showdown next week against Notre Dame at the Orange Bowl.

Warren’s case is more complicated, as the All-American had a chance to bolt to the NFL after last season but chose to return for one more shot at glory. Nittany Lions star running back Nick Singleton is another player whose status is up in the air regarding going pro or not in 2025.

“I think when I was in that situation, it wasn’t necessarily Penn State trying to pull me away from one decision or the other,” said Warren on Saturday. “It was just them giving their side of the story and then they also showed me all the benefits if I decided to make a different decision than I did. I think that’s kind of what they do well. It’s not, ‘We don’t want you to do this.’ It’s, ‘This is what this would look like.’ … They’ve been great. There’s no right answer in that decision for a lot of guys.”
