Former Penn State assistant lands job on NFL staff
Former Penn State receivers coach David Corley and the program parted ways shortly following the end of the 2018 season, and the former Nittany Lion assistant has landed on his feet.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Corley has landed a job with the NFL’s Houston Texans. He is one of five of Bill Walsh NFL coaching fellowship interns.
From the NFL website:
Bill Walsh NFL coaching fellowship’ program is “designed as a vocational tool to increase the number of full-time NFL minority coaches, [and] all 32 NFL clubs participate each year. Specific aspects of the program — including hiring, compensation and coaching duties — are administered on a club-by-club basis.”
Penn State’s receivers had trouble hanging onto the football in 2018, which drew criticism from head coach James Franklin and the fans. After the Lions dropped the Citrus Bowl game to Kentucky, Corley and the program headed in different directions.

It’s unclear whether or not Corley’s role will extend into the NFL season or if it will end following training camp and the preseason.
