James Franklin has been linked to the USC coaching search after the Trojans let Clay Helton go, and Franklin addressed the rumors earlier on Wednesday.

He spoked to the media after practice and confirmed that the only thing he’s worried about is his current team right now. Franklin said the main way he addresses job rumors is in direct conversations with his staff, players, and even recruits:

“I’m not worried about distractions in the media and with the fans, I’m worried about my team,” said Franklin. “So I talked to my staff about it, I talked to the players, the leadership council in detail, but that’s the best approach…We’ll address it with the recruits as well.”

Despite there being reported mutual interest between the 2 parties, it’s not surprising that Franklin will be focused on his current team. The Nittany Lions are 2-0 to start the season and are ranked No. 10 in the country.

Franklin was also listed in RJ Young’s top 5 list of candidates that would be a good fit to replace Helton.

Penn State is set to kick off against Auburn on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
