James Franklin’s team has been in the news lately. It’s been for good reasons this time.

Penn State is coming off a road win against Auburn and an Eli Manning viral video all within a few days each other. The Nittany Lions took care of business on the road, winning 41-12.

Franklin was feeling sentimental about what has happened recently, and spoke about what it means for the program to be in the spotlight as of late.

“This is a game. It should be fun for the players, coaches, fans, alumni, and community…Providing other opportunities to peak behind the curtain and show some personality [is important]. Again, it can’t be at the expense of what you’re here to do, which is to educate young people and put your team in the best position to win. They were able to do 99% of it without messing up our normal routing…Once I was comfortable that we were able to do that without it impacting our normal routing, I was all about it.”

Penn State is undefeated through three games, and now has two Power 5 road wins. Franklin is feeling good about what his team has done so far, but the road is only going to get tougher as the season goes on.
