James Franklin gives humorous response when asked about Michigan sign-stealing scandal
James Franklin humorously recalled a press conference tactic from earlier in the season when asked about sign-stealing allegations surrounding the Michigan program during his radio show.
Penn State is preparing to face the Wolverines at Beaver Stadium in one of the headline matchups of Week 11. The 9th-ranked Nittany Lions have a chance to deal Jim Harbaugh and the 2nd-ranked Wolverines their 1st loss of the season while staying alive in the College Football Playoff and B1G Championship race.
“I’m gonna do everything I can to avoid your question. I like my coffee black,” Franklin told a fan in person at the taping of the show on Thursday — according to The Athletic’s Audrey Snyder — referencing his Sept. 26 press conference where he grilled media members on their coffee preferences.
In regards to whether he fears the Wolverines will steal signs from the Nittany Lions sideline, Franklin revealed that the team has “more than 700 signals” they utilize on offense, so it certainly sounds like it’s not a concern.
Saturday’s kickoff from Happy Valley is set for noon ET and will be televised on FOX.
