There’s no denying Penn State’s annual White Out game is an awesome experience, and James Franklin took time to briefly discuss the potential kickoff time for the 2019 version.

This season, the Nittany Lions will welcome Michigan to Happy Valley on October 19 for the White Out. Ohio State was the opponent for the 2018 White Out, and that game was played in primetime under the lights.

While some fans may prefer the primetime kickoffs, Franklin admitted during his Tuesday press conference that he would prefer a much earlier kick. Franklin said a noon kickoff would actually be the time he likes best.

While Franklin did cite some logistical issues as reasons for wanting the earlier kick, he also claimed Penn State’s morning tailgate scene is starting to get some traction. Franklin went so far as to say Penn State fans prefer those 12 o’clock games:

“Our fans in some ways prefer the 12 o’clock games,” said Franklin. “That’s why this place will be sold out and rocking right after we finish our breakfast burritos.”

Audrey Snyder with The Athletic shared Franklin’s full comments on the potential kickoff time:
