Jaxon Smolik is on his way to the B1G just one day after reopening his recruitment.

Originally committed to Tulane, Smolik announced his decision to investigate his options on Thursday. Penn State was expected to be in the picture after Smolik camped with the Nittany Lions and generated an offer at the end of July.

Penn State and California were Power 5 programs to extend offers to Smolik after a strong summer. On Friday, Smolik confirmed his new destination with his commitment to James Franklin and the Nittany Lions.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Smolik is a 3-star prospect and the No. 38 QB in the country. He has been rising and impressing this summer, so it will be interesting to see where he stands after his senior season in the fall.

Smolik joins a 2023 recruiting class for Penn State that includes 19 players and is currently ranked 10th nationally.
