Penn State basketball lands impact transfer from the Big South
Penn State picked up a major commitment from Gardner-Webb transfer Jaheam Cornwall on Friday afternoon.

Cornwall is a graduate transfer who is coming off a four-year career with Gardner Webb. As a senior in 2020-21, the point guard averaged 14.1 points and 3.8 assists per game.
He’s also a tremendous shooter — perhaps one of the best in the country. For his career, he’s made 42.4 percent of his 3-point attempts on 4.5 tries per game.
He was named first-team All-Big South for his efforts this past season.
This addition is great timing for Penn State, who is greatly in need of a point guard. Two players who played that role last season — Jamari Wheeler and Myreon Jones — have transferred.
Penn State guard Izaiah Brockington also re-entered his name into the transfer portal earlier this week.
Penn State is searching for its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011. The Nittany Lions went 11-15 last year under interim head coach Jim Ferry.
