Penn State to be without 2 key players for Peach Bowl game
Penn State will be without two of its NFL-bound standouts on Saturday as it wraps up the 2023 campaign.
Offensive tackle Olu Fashanu and CB Kalen King are both listed as OUT on the pregame availability report. Both players will be in the 2024 NFL Draft, but had been practicing with the team in Atlanta.
Fashanu left himself some wiggle room on the postseason game. On Dec. 22 he shared a note announcing that he was declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.
“I look forward to spending time with my teammates and coaches for the Peach Bowl,” Fashanu concluded the note.
Spending time with his coaches and teammates ultimately proved to be practicing with the Nittany Lions and cheering them on from the sidelines.
Earlier this week, James Franklin stated King would play in the bowl game, adding that the team “tried to create an environment where really there’s no reason for any player to opt out.”
King recorded 29 tackles and 2 pass deflections helping Penn State notch a 10-2 record in 2023.
Saturday’s kickoff between No. 10 Penn State and No. 11 Ole Miss is set for noon ET, with the game airing on ESPN.
