Penn State football released who its captains are going to be for the 2022 season on Thursday. QB Sean Clifford, LS Chris Stoll, S Ji’Ayir Brown, DT P.J. Mustipher, OL Juice Scruggs, and LB Jonathan Sutherland will all be representing the Nittany Lions.

Stoll and Brown couldn’t wait to share the news with their family members. The 2 made an appearance on Penn State Football’s Twitter account as they called their moms on the phone to share the news.

Stoll has been a reliable option at long snapper, appearing in 35 career games at the position. He was a Burlsworth Trophy nominee last season, and snapped for 2021 B1G Punter of the Year and Ray Guy Award Finalist Jordan Stout. He called his mom and let her know about the news 1st.

“I appreciate all you’ve done for me, putting me in this position to come to Penn State,” said Stoll. “Obviously all that you continue to do for me. I really want to thank you for that mom.”

Brown has also held his own at his position for quite some time as well. Appearing in 22 games, with 13 starts, he will be a senior safety who was tied for NCAA lead in interceptions last season (6). You can just how proud his mom was when she heard the news.

Penn State opens the 2022 season at Purdue on Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
