Former college and NFL head coach Jimmy Johnson is headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The announcement was made on Sunday.

Johnson was informed about the honor on Sunday while serving as an analyst on FOX’s NFL show. He was surprised by the news, prompting an emotional reaction and response to learning of his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame:

Johnson was an NFL coach for nine seasons, coaching the Dallas Cowboys from 1989-93 and the Miami Dolphins from 1996-99. Prior to that, he was the head coach at the college level, leading the Miami Hurricanes.

Johnson was most famous for his run with the Cowboys, leading the franchise to back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1992 and 1993. He won 11 games or more in each of his final three seasons in Dallas.

After a brief hiatus from the NFL, Johnson returned to coach the Dolphins for four years. He led Miami to three-straight playoff appearances from 1997-99, but was never able to return to the Super Bowl.

In his NFL career, Johnson was 80-64 with six playoff appearances and a 9-4 record in the postseason.
