We’ve already known that Drew Brees was one of the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL. A recent post from the QB’s wife shows just how much he fought through during the 2020 season, though.

Already known was the fact that Brees suffered 11 broken ribs and a collapsed lung, an injury that kept him out only a few games during the season. But Brees’ wife, Brittany, revealed that the New Orleans quarterback was battling through more than that.

Brees also played with a torn rotator cuff and a torn fascia in his foot.

Remarkable, Brees was still able to lead New Orleans to the NFL playoffs with a shot to reach the Super Bowl. But the Saints’ season ended on Sunday, after falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20. Many believe it was the final game of Brees’ career.

Brees wasn’t the only player on the New Orleans roster to play through pain this season. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported earlier this week that wide receiver Michael Thomas also played through injuries this season and will require surgery.

Thomas reportedly played because he believed this was Brees’ last season as well, and wanted to win a Super Bowl.
