Jaden Ivey highlights sacrifices of mother and former WNBA star Niele Ivey following solid NBA debut with Detroit Pistons
Jaden Ivey played his first regular season NBA game for the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. After the game he talked about what it meant to be in the position and thanked his mother for all she had done for him per WXYZ Detroit’s Jeanna Trotman.
Ivey finished the game with 19 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds. The Pistons beat the Orlando Magic 113-109. His mother, Niele Ivey, played in the WNBA for the Detroit Shock in 2005 and attended her son’s first game.
Jaden was very thankful for everything that Niele had done for him in a post game interview.
“My mom is really a blessing,” said Ivey. “I just thank him everyday, and she taught me that. From just how prayerful she is. She just wakes up and is thankful to be on this earth. I really thank her for what she’s done for me.”
The Pistons face the New York Knicks Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET. No channel has been announced for the game yet.
FEEL GOOD: Niele Ivey @IrishCoachIvey is the @ndwbb head coach & a former member of the Detroit Shock. The WNBA is where she, as a single mom, raised her son @IveyJaden. Last night, for the same city she once played for, she proudly watched her son’s NBA debut with the #Pistons. pic.twitter.com/IXy6LXbYpV
