Jaden Ivey looks to join elite B1G company during 2022 NBA Draft
Jaden Ivey is off to the NBA Draft following a pair of strong seasons at Purdue. An All-B1G Freshman selection his first year, Ivey turned into a consensus All-American as a sophomore.
Now, Ivey is looking to continue in the steps of fellow B1G stars in becoming a top-5 pick in the NBA Draft. Across most mocks, Ivey is expected to come off the board early with a number of projections predicting Ivey to go No. 4 overall to the Sacramento Kings.
If that happens, Ivey will join a short list of top-5 picks out of the B1G. Since 2000, the conference has produced just 10 top-5 picks and just one No. 1 overall pick.
Over that span, Ohio State leads all B1G programs with 4 top-5 picks. Michigan State and Indiana are the only other B1G programs to produce multiple top-5 picks in that span.
Here’s the list of top-5 picks 2000-2021:
- No. 4 Jaren Jackson, Michigan State, Atlanta 2018
- No. 2 D’Angelo Russell, OSU, Lakers 2015
- No. 2 Victor Oladipo, IU, Orlando, 2013
- No. 4 Cody Zeller, IU, Charlotte 2013
- No. 2 Evan Turner, OSU, Philadelphia, 2010
- No. 1 Greg Oden, OSU, Portland, 2007
- No. 4 Mike Conley, OSU, Memphis, 2007
- No. 3 Deron Williams, Illinois, Utah, 2005
- No. 5 Devin Harris, Wisconsin, Washington, 2004
- No. 5 Jason Richardson, Michigan State, Golden State, 2001
