The week leading up to Saturday’s matchup between Purdue (1-3) and Nebraska (0-3) got off to a salty start. A comment from Scott Frost gave Jeff Brohm a little extra motivation headed into the B1G West battle.

Following Nebraska’s 56-10 loss to Michigan, Frost made the comment that his team would return to Lincoln and “get a game we can win,” referencing this week’s matchup against Purdue. Though he tried to play it off, that statement got under Brohm’s skin.

“I think that everything that’s said is heard,” Brohm responded when asked about Frost’s comment.

But Frost tried to make up for his comment during his weekly press conference on Monday. He paid the Boilermakers head coach a huge compliment, calling Brohm “one of the best coaches in the country.”

“I think Jeff Brohm is one of the best coaches in the country,” Frost said. “I think he did an unbelievable job where he is. I think he’s smart. I think he gets his team playing well.”

That’s a huge compliment to Brohm, especially from Frost, who was one of the hottest coaches on the market last fall.

But it’s doubtful Brohm forgets Frost’s initial comment after the Michigan loss.

To be fair, Frost’s response came quickly after an embarrassing loss. His comment wasn’t likely a direct shot at Purdue and Brohm. But hey, if the Boilermakers can use a little added motivation, why not use it?

Purdue and Nebraska collide in Lincoln on Saturday. Both teams are hoping to notch their first B1G win of the year.
