Purdue shares behind-the-scenes look of Drew Brees arriving as assistant coach for bowl game
Drew Brees is a true Purdue legend in every sense of the word. He’s also back in West Lafayette, signing on as an interim assistant to help with the coaching transition and bowl prep for the Boilermakers.
On Sunday, Purdue shared a behind-the-scenes look of the former QB arriving for duty on campus. It includes Brees receiving his own set of keys to Purdue’s facilities, though he claims it is not the only time he’s had a set in his career.

“I got keys to the building now,” said Brees. “Yeah, I had keys to the building back when I was playing, too. It was that late-night film study when everyone else was sleeping.”
The former Boilermaker wrapped up his illustrious NFL career following the 2020 season and spent 2021 as an analyst for NBC. We’ll see how he looks as an assistant coach and if it opens up Brees to other coaching opportunities in the future.
