Purdue vs. Virginia Tech is a notable nonconference game on the Week 2 slate, but that game has been plagued by weather delays.

Originally set for a 12 pm ET kickoff from Lane Stadium, the game was delayed about 15 minutes before the opening kick. That game eventually started, but it did not get late into the action.

With over 9 minutes left in the first quarter, the stadium went into another weather delay after the opening drive from both teams. The Boilermakers have the ball around midfield whenever the game resumes with a 7-0 lead.

For those in attendance, Virginia Tech has encouraged fans to shelter inside their vehicles or any of Cassell Coliseum, Rector Field House and the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility.

Prior to the suspension of play, Purdue running back Devin Mockobee bolted for the game’s opening touchdown from 15 yards out.
