Purdue's rushing attack on pace for disastrous single-season school record
It’s no secret Purdue is off to a rough start, and a big part of that has been the inability of the offense to establish balance.
Through three games, the Boilermakers are averaging 422 total yards of offense per game. However, the bulk of that has come in the passing game. The offense is currently averaging just 50 yards per game on the ground, and that mark would be historically bad.

According to Gold and Black, the school’s all-time worst rushing yards per game mark is 55.6 set in 1990. By comparison, Purdue averaged just over 130 yards on the ground per game in 2018. With the current state of the Boilermakers, it’s fair to wonder if that mark will fall in 2019.
Purdue rushing game is on the wrong side of history. This year's average of 50.0 would break the all-time low of 55.6 set in 1990 during the "Run-and-Shoot" days of Fred Akers.https://t.co/TZGZ8DllJM pic.twitter.com/4dAtUmsjGc

Through three games, no player is over 100 yards rushing and just one has eclipsed 40 yards on the ground. Alexander Horvath currently leads the team with 91 rushing yards. Unfortunately, he has not scored a touchdown and is averaging 2.9 yards per carry.
