Each week of the college football season, ESPN’s College GameDay visits a spot featuring a key matchup.

The show is always fun and interesting to watch. College GameDay is essentially the pregame to the games that kick off at noon.

Darren Rovell, who is currently a Senior Executive Producer for The Action Network, decided that he wanted to start a little mini segment this season named “College Lameday.” Here’s how it works: Each week, Rovell is apparently picking one game that is the absolutely worst matchup in all of college football.

For Week 1, he is going with a game involving a Big Ten team:

Rovell’s shirt may say Northwestern, but the matchup he chose as the worst for Week 1 was Rutgers vs. UMass. UMass is not a good Division I football program. The numbers show as such.

And last season, Rutgers went just 1-11 overall and 0-9 in Big Ten play. Again, not good.

Is it the worst matchup in all of football this weekend? We’ll just have to watch and see.

Or, maybe, you’re better off skipping this game if you have the same mindset as Rovell.
