One of the most productive defensive players at Rutgers during the 2019 season is back on the roster, despite declaring for the NFL Draft back in January.

Rutgers released its 2020 team roster on Monday morning, and it revealed that defensive lineman Elorm Lumor is back with the team. How he was able to work his way back onto the team after declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft is currently unknown, but head coach Greg Schiano may clear that up while meeting with the media.

Last season, Lumor was tied as the team’s sack leader with Rashawn Battle, both registering 3 sacks for the season. He also collected 31 tackles, 4 stops for loss and a pass break-up during the 2019 campaign in Piscataway.

During his career with the Scarlet Knights, Lumor has appeared in 34 games with 24 starts. He’s totaled 83 stops, 12.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks. Lumor has also forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and blocked a kick.

Coming off a 2-10 season and with limited practice over the offseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rutgers needs as much experience on the roster as it can get. Having Lumor back on the defensive line for the 2020 season is certainly a huge benefit for Schiano and the Scarlet Knights.
