Here's what Greg Schiano said during his weekly presser as Rutgers prepares for Illinois
Rutgers is coming off a 4th straight loss after a 3-0 start and this time it was at the hands of Northwestern.
The Scarlet Knights kept it close going into the 4th quarter until the Wildcats pulled away and eventually won, 21-7
Noah Vedral only completed 18-of-30 throws for 152 yards and the running game wasn’t much better. Kyle Monangai was the leading rusher for Rutgers and only finished with 31 yards on 6 carries.
Head coach Greg Schiano spoke about that loss at length during his Monday presser, plus previewed his team’s next contest against Illinois this Saturday. Here’s what he said:
Greg Schiano says he goes to other practices around Rutgers (when he can). "Coaching is teaching. I like to see different ways coaches teach."

Schiano says he puts an emphasis on recruiting during a bye week. A chance to visit and see players.
From a practice perspective, Schiano says he plays it by ear. "It depends where it falls and how your team is at the time."

Schiano on Illinois: I'll tell you what, Bret's doing a great job. He's a good friend, an excellent football coach. He's won B1G championships in this league.
I see a team defensively that is really tough. They do things that are a little bit different.

More Schiano on Illini: Says they mixed some things up offensively last week vs. PSU. Knows how dangerous Illini are on special teams.
"We certainly know what we're up against, but we need to be concerned with us. We went to Northwestern — they beat us but we didn't play well."

Schiano: We still have the chance to write the story on the 2021 season on however we see fit. We have 5 ball games left and it's in our hands. We can have a very successful season or we cannot. It's all up to us.
— Dustin Schutte (@SchutteCFB) October 25, 2021
Schiano says he's not too worried about what Illinois has done in the past in terms of preparing Rutgers this week.
Says too much has changed to focus on what they've done in the past.

Schiano says he has the "utmost confidence" in OC Sean Gleeson. Says need to execute the offense better

Greg Schiano closing comment: "We have the pen in our hand. We get to write the story. It's up to us to do it. I ask that our fans stick with us. It's coming. I know it can get frustrating. … The arrow on this program is up. We need our fans to stick with us. It'll turn.
