Rutgers is in need of a permanent head coach. As it stands, Nunzio Campanile is the interim coach. The Scarlet Knights have had their coaching search going on for quite some time now and the school even issued a statement about it.

On Monday, during Campanile’s weekly presser, he was asked about Schiano and the coaching situation going on:

“It’s obviously a lot of noise, but not anything that I have any control over,” he said. “I’ve said this before, I have tremendous respect for Coach Schiano and the job that he did here and he’s always been great to me. I think he’s a high character individual and a great coach. At the same time, I don’t have much to do with that, so I’m just trying to focus on winning the game, doing our job.”
Campanile when asked if he wants to stay with the program:
“I believe in Rutgers and I believe in New Jersey football. I believe that you can really build a really competitive, successful Big Ten program right here. We have a ton of great players, we have a lot of great things to offer.”
It sounds like Campanile wants to be there. He believes in Rutgers. If someone needs to believe in the program, it’s the head coach.
Campanile doesn’t have that issue.
