Rutgers will be playing close to home for its 2nd bowl appearance in 3 seasons.

The Scarlet Knights will face the ACC’s Miami Hurricanes in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl. The game, which will be played at Yankee Stadium, is scheduled for Dec. 28 at 2:15 ET on ESPN.

Miami is bowl-bound for the 1st time since 2020. The Hurricanes were scheduled to play in the 2021 Sun Bowl, but due to COVID-19 concerns within the program, they were forced to withdraw. In 2022, Mario Cristobal’s 1st season, they were 5-7, but currently hold a 7-5 mark: they started the season 4-0 before dropping 5 of their last 8 games.

Meanwhile, Greg Schiano prepares to face a program he has familiarity with: he was the Miami defensive coordinator before being hired for his 1st stint as Rutgers’ head coach.

The Scarlet Knights haven’t beaten the Hurricanes in 11 overall meetings between the 2 teams on the gridiron, but the former Big East schools haven’t played each other since 2003, Miami’s last year in the conference before switching to the ACC.
