With a couple of big defensive players announcing their return for Wisconsin on Saturday, the offense got a major boost as well.

Tight end Jake Ferguson, projected to be a Day 3 pick in the NFL Draft, is returning to the Badgers for 2021. Ferguson made the announcement via his social media channels.

Despite COVID-19 limiting Wisconsin to just seven games this year, Ferguson still posted an impressive career-high in receptions (36) and receiving yards (456) while tying a career-high in touchdowns (four). The junior has had three highly productive years in Madison.

A fifth season could well make him one of the top tight ends in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Earlier on Saturday, linebacker Jack Sanborn and cornerback Faion Hicks announced they are returning for 2021 as well.

On Dec. 30 in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, won by Wisconsin 42-28 over Wake Forest, Ferguson had one catch for 21 yards. The Badgers finished an up and down season 4-3.
