On Saturday, Sept. 3, the Wisconsin Badgers defeated FCS opponent  Illinois State Redbirds 38-0. John Torchio had a 100-yard pick-six to give the Badgers a 7-0 lead.

According to fellow Badger Nick Herbig, Torchio called his shot before the play even happened. Torchio said this to Herbig.

“Herbie I am going to pick this one,” said Torchio.

The Badgers ended up winning the turnover battle 2-0 over the Redbirds en route to their shutout win.

Torchio on the day had 3 total tackles, 1 of which was solo, 1 sack, and 1 tackle for loss to go along with his pick-six in the home opening win.

The Badgers will face stiffer competition next week as they welcome the Cougars of Washington State into Camp Randall for a 3:30 ET kickoff on FOX.

Torchio and the Wisconsin defense will need more plays like that next weekend to try and stop the air raid attack from the team out in Pullman, Washington.
