Wisconsin was absolutely dominating Michigan in Madison on Saturday.

The Badgers led 35-0 midway through the third quarter. But then, Michigan began to drive on the Badgers’ defense. On one play, when Michigan faced a third-and-eight, Wolverines QB Dylan McCaffrey took off running.

He then got hit on the head seven yards later by safety Eric Burrell. Burrell led with his helmet as well on the play, leading to his eventual ejection.

Take a look:

McCaffrey certainly could have done a better job sliding. And it seemed as thought that was part of the reason why he got hit on his head by Burrell. You could tell Burrell didn’t mean anything by it judging by how he was acting on the sideline.

But regardless, the play got reviewed, and Burrell got ejected from the game for targeting. That’s the rule. The rule also makes it so that Burrell will miss the first half of the Badgers’ game next week against Northwestern.

That wasn’t all, though. Just five plays later, McCaffrey took off running again. This time, another Badgers safety decided to hit him in the head. That safety was Reggie Pearson.

Take a look at this one, which appeared to be much more vicious than Burrell’s:

McCaffrey definitely stayed down for a while after that hit. Again, Pearson was ejected for targeting as well and will miss the first half of the game against Northwestern alongside Burrell.

For the remainder of the Michigan drive, QB Shea Patterson took over the offense after being benched, leading the Wolverines to a TD. It was the first points of the season that the Badgers have allowed.
