Saturday’s annual Cy-Hawk showdown has turned up all Hawkeyes with Iowa looking to cruise to the end for a massive road win.

Expectations were high entering the Week 2 showdown in Ames for a matchup of top-10 teams. Though the game was close at halftime, the Hawkeye defense has come up big time-and-time again.

Iowa did score on a scoop-and-score after forcing a Breece Hall fumble, but the bigger story of the game has been the play of Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy. He has not been good, to say the least.

The Hawkeye defense has limited Purdy to 13-for-27 passing with 138 yards. Purdy has also been picked off 3 times, including 2 by Matt Hankins.

Purdy has since been relieved by Hunter Dekkers in the fourth quarter, but it likely will not make much of a difference in the game. The Hawkeyes have dominated the second half of action, and the social media reaction to Purdy’s benching has been noteworthy.
