Connor Stalions joined the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast this week and covered a myriad of topics from his time at Michigan.

One notable claim Stalions made was that he helped Ohio State beat Michigan State in 2021 to prevent a 3-way tie atop the Big Ten standings.

Entering the penultimate weekend of the 2021 regular season, the Spartans and Wolverines both had one conference loss. Michigan’s came against Michigan State earlier in the year, so it would have been in the Wolverines’ best interest to avoid any scenarios where they were tied with Michigan State atop the standings.

Michigan State played Ohio State in Week 12 that season. A win for the Buckeyes against Sparty would result in a defacto Big Ten East title game the following weekend between Ohio State and Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Stalions did his best to ensure that scenario played out.

“We needed Ohio State to win,” Stalions said. “So I gave Michigan State’s signals to a buddy of mine and changed all the logos to make it look like it came from a different school. I didn’t want to give Ohio State something from Michigan … they might not use it, who knows. But we need Ohio State to win.

“And I know they steal the crap out of defensive signals so here you go. So I gave [the signals] to a buddy, who may have given it to a buddy, who then gave it to Ohio State … I’m sure they probably already had [the signals] and it just confirmed everything. And then they won like 60-0.”

Here’s video of the story as Stalions tells it:

Ohio State beat Michigan State 56-7 that weekend. The next week, the Wolverines beat Ohio State in Ann Arbor to snap a streak of 7 consecutive wins by the Buckeyes in that series.

A little under 2 years later, Stalions resigned from his position at Michigan after becoming the center of an illegal sign-stealing scandal. Earlier this year, the NCAA officially delivered its Notice of Allegations to Michigan regarding that scandal.
