Jake Butt just cannot catch a break.

The former Michigan tight end has certainly been through the wringer when it comes to his knee problems. He tore his ACL in the final game of his Wolverines career and missed all of the 2017 NFL season as a result. Butt returned in 2018 but did not last long before re-injuring his knee and missing the rest of the year.

Now, Butt is trying to once again return to the field healthy. He even had a positive performance recently that was encouraging. Unfortunately, Butt announced Wednesday that he will have yet another procedure on his surgically repaired knee.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out and asked about my knee,” Butt wrote in a note on Twitter. “I’ve decided to have a minor scope done on my knee, which I believe will help me return to the field as soon as possible.” He went on to admit that this entire process has been incredibly difficult, but he remains optimistic he will return to the field this season.

Here’s the note Butt shared in its entirety:

Hopefully, Butt does indeed return to the field for good. It is at least encouraging to see his determination and perseverance through this latest setback.
