Penn State and Minnesota are both on a bye for Week 10, but a showdown in Week 11 is shaping up to be must-see TV.

As long as AP voters do not do anything foolish, next week’s game will go down as a Top-15 matchup. Both teams are currently undefeated with Penn State at No. 5 on the latest AP Poll while Minnesota checked in at No. 13.

Both teams are getting plenty of time to prepare for the game, and do not expect anyone to take the other side lightly. Between PJ Fleck campaigning for ESPN’s College GameDay to make an appearance and James Franklin giving props to the undefeated Golden Gophers, expect both teams to show up ready to fight for 60 minutes.

While the game is still over a week away, ESPN’s updated FPI has handed out odds for the contest. As of now, the FPI does see a clear favorite, giving the Nittany Lions a good chance to secure the win:

  • Penn State (73.1% win probability) vs Minnesota

Of course, Minnesota fans will point out games are played on the field and not by a computer, and rightfully so. Few people – if anyone – expected the Gophers to be sitting here at 8-0. Still, it’s no surprise that beating Penn State will be an incredibly tall task and the toughest team Minnesota will have faced to this point.
