Nick Saban wasn’t too pleased with the officiating at the end of Saturday’s Iron Bowl matchup between Alabama and Auburn. He wasn’t afraid to speak his mind after the game, either.

Auburn registered a 48-45 win over Alabama on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium, handing the Crimson Tide their second loss of the season and eliminating them from College Football Playoff contention. The game was sealed on a 4th-and-4 with 1:17 remaining, when the Tigers ran their offense onto the field and their punter lined up at wide receiver. Alabama had an illegal substitution penalty in that moment of confusion that cost the Tide the game.

Saban was pretty unhappy with how the call was officiated.

“Pretty unfair play at the end of the game,” Saban said in his postgame presser. “I though they should have given us a little more time.”

That wasn’t the only controversial call in the Iron Bowl.

At the end of the first half, Auburn ran a play that resulted in the clock running out. But officials added :01 left to clock, allowing the Tigers to get a field goal out of the situation to close out the second quarter. The difference in the game happened to be three points.

So, there were a few questionable officiating decisions, for sure. But Alabama and Saban won’t get much sympathy.
