Clay Helton may get one more year to prove he’s the right guy for USC after all. On Tuesday night, a report from FootballScoop.com says there will be no change in leadership for the Trojans football program.

On Sunday, Sports Illustrated reported that Helton was expected to lose his job as the head coach at USC and that the university was targeting former Ohio State leader Urban Meyer. Multiple media outlets shot down that claim, and now it’s expected that Helton will remain in charge at USC.

FootballScoop.com reported than announcement is expected to come on Wednesday.

USC finished the 2019 season with an 8-4 record and currently ranks No. 22 in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Trojans also notched an upset win over Utah, currently ranked No. 5.

Helton just concluded is fifth regular season as the head coach of the Trojans. During his time in Los Angeles, USC is 40-21 with a 31-12 mark in Pac-12 play. He’s also led the program to two double-digit win seasons and a Rose Bowl victory.
