WATCH: College QB wrongfully charged with possession of cocaine after tests were incorrect
Editor’s note: The original story has been edited as charges have been dropped.
Last week, Georgia Southern QB Shai Werts was in a bit of trouble.
Initially, he was getting pulled over by the police due to speeding. However, it turned into much more.
Once pulled over, police found a white substance on the hood of his car and tested it. Werts said it was bird poop. The police originally tested the substance twice and found that it was cocaine.
However, it wasn’t cocaine. The field test kits were wrong.
Here’s video of the incident:
Here's an early look at my report coming up on @WJCLNews at 11 about the possession of cocaine charge against @_shaiwertss being dropped. The @GSAthletics_FB only guilty of speeding. pic.twitter.com/HnXrHxzWhl

As you can hear at the start, the deputy solicitor states that the tests showed that there wasn’t a controlled substance. Again, it was not cocaine.
Since the incident occurred, Werts passed a drug test and has been reinstated with the school after being suspended. Currently, Werts is only guilty of speeding.
