Illinois won a defensive slugfest at home against Iowa 9-6, but it cost the Fighting Illini some key injuries.

Illinois head coach Bret Bielema believes that the injuries to senior quarterback Tommy Devito, sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Williams, sophomore defensive back Tahveon Nicholson and senior linebacker Isaac Darkangelo were not heavy or season-ending.

DeVito left with an ankle injury in the first quarter and did not return. Williams left the game with an undisclosed injury in the second quarter.

Illinois accounted for 316 total yards against the talented defense of Iowa. On the defensive side of the ball, the Fighting Illini held the Hawkeyes to 222 total yards. Illinois won despite turning the ball over 3 times.

Illinois (5-1, 2-1 in B1G play) will host Minnesota (4-1, 1-1) in Week 7.
