Indiana has a massive showdown this week with the No.4 team in the country. The Hoosiers travel up to Happy Valley take on Penn State in primetime this weekend.

Tom Allen on Thursday said he’s optimistic that defensive back Jaylin Williams will be good to go for Saturday’s game against the Nittany Lions. Williams has been in concussion protocol this week.

Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star provides more context:

Williams has played in 3 games this season and has 10 tackles and 2 pass deflections.

In 3 seasons and 3 games with the Hoosiers, Williams has 81 tackles, 8 pass deflections, 6 interceptions, 3 tackles for loss and 2 sacks.

Indiana has already lost to two teams inside the top 10 in the AP Top-25 poll — No. 5 Iowa and No. 7 Cincinnati. The Hoosiers’ two wins are against Idaho and Western Kentucky.

The Hoosiers have yet to beat a ranked opponent this season and have three AP Top-25 opponents in a row and four on the schedule altogether.

Penn State hosts Indiana in primetime on ABC at 7:30 ET.
