This time, Michigan closed the deal.

Two weeks after a blown fourth-quarter lead to Michigan State, the Wolverines looked on the brink once again. They entered the fourth quarter against Penn State up 14-6, but with just 6 minutes to play in the game, Penn State had rattled off 11 points to take a 17-14 lead. Michigan needed a response.

Coach Jim Harbaugh gave it to running back Hassan Haskins 5 straight plays to begin the drive and the back moved it 28 yards. On 2nd-and-long, Michigan dialed up a mesh concept to get tight end Erick All open to the right; 47 yards later the junior had his first career score and the Wolverines had the lead back, this time for good.

Michigan hung on to win 21-17 and move to 9-1 on the season.

After the game, Harbaugh shared a moment with his team in the locker room.

“You players, man,” he began. “You were born for this. You guys were born for days like this. The way you guys fight is championship level.”

Harbaugh then called out offensive coordinator Josh Gattis and the locker room went crazy.

Michigan travels to Maryland next Saturday for one last tune-up before its most important game of the season. The 6th-ranked Wolverines host Ohio State on Nov. 27.
