Minnesota is headed to its first bowl game under head coach PJ Fleck, but his squad may be without a number of players.

The Golden Gophers are preparing for the Quick Lane Bowl after securing wins over Wisconsin and Purdue over the final stretch of the season. The team will take on Georgia Tech on Dec. 26 in the game, but it is being reported that at least six Gophers may be suspended for that showdown.

According to Joe Christensen and Randy Johnson with the Star Tribune, somewhere between 6-8 Minnesota football players are facing the potential suspension. These players are reportedly not being allowed to practice and could miss the bowl game.

The school has not confirmed the report and the Star Tribune did not release the names of the players reportedly being disciplined. However, the Star Tribune did report that the alleged violations do not have to do with assault or violence.

Minnesota is already expecting to be without linebacker Blake Cashman and OL Donnell Greene for the bowl game as they prepare for the NFL. Will the Golden Gophers be able to put up a strong showing against Georgia Tech?
