Marcus Satterfield is part of the big changes coming to Nebraska this offseason.

After a hugely disappointing 4-8 season, head coach Scott Frost was relieved of his position. The team spent much of the season under the direction of interim head coach Mickey Joseph. At the conclusion of the season, Nebraska brought on Matt Rhule as head coach.

One of Rhule’s first hires was Satterfield as OC. Satterfield has worked under Rhule in the past. The two were together at Temple, Baylor and the Carolina Panthers.

Satterfield recently discussed his reunion with Rhule and what made it a good connection.

“I think just our mindset. First time we worked together was in 2005 at Western Carolina,” said Satterfield. “I worked for him at Temple in 2013. The same mindset, the same standards of how football is supposed to be played. I was ecstatic when he called me.”

Satterfield also talked about why he thinks so many people are loyal to the head coach.

“I think it’s the other way around. I think he’s loyal to us. There’s a reason that players keep reaching out to him and getting advice from him. Whether it be from the Carolina Panthers, to the Temple Owls or whatever it might be. That’s what makes him unique and special: The relationships he builds.”
