Urban Meyer has been one of the best college coaches since his debut with Bowling Green in 2011. The 58-year-old’s resume includes three national championships: two with the University of Florida (2006/2008) and one with Ohio State (2014).

Overall, Meyer owns a career college coaching record of 187-32 (.854). A recent blemish in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars could have Meyer eager to return to his college roots (Via Saturday Down South):

Syndicated radio host Dan Patrick said a source told him that Nebraska and Arizona State are schools that could be “on to something” and to “keep an eye” on about Meyer’s coaching future.

“Let’s just say this dreamlike, and they might have an opening soon,” Patrick said of Nebraska. “Let’s say Nebraska could be in play for Urban Meyer, maybe, hypothetically.”

Woah.

This news probably won’t sit well with Scott Frost, but it may sit well with his fan base. Frost is 15-30 at Nebraska and has yet to win more than five games in Lincoln.

On the other hand, Meyer has won at least eight games in each of his 17 seasons as a college head coach. Meyer’s last season in the college ranks came in 2018.

See the difference? This could be a big hire for Nebraska. If things continue to unravel in Lincoln, these rumors should only continue to warm up.
