2023 recruiting class: Where every B1G team ranks entering first week of July

Life on the college football recruiting trail never sleeps, and the race to compile the 2023 recruiting class is in full swing over the July 4 weekend.
Hitting Monday has brought the first full week of July upon us. That means B1G Media Days are just around the corner and soon after, the return of fall camps.
In terms of recruiting, Michigan was active the final week of June while landing commitments from a 4-star LB out of Philadelphia and a receiver out of St. Louis. Purdue also made strides with commitments from another WR and a key in-state TE prospect. The Boilermakers are looking for a top-20 recruiting class under head coach Jeff Brohm.
In terms of overall rankings, Ohio State continues to lead the B1G with a class headlined by another elite group of receivers brought on by Brian Hartline in June. Penn State ranks No. 2 in the conference behind the Buckeyes in recruiting and also holds a top-5 class nationally for the cycle.
As we head into the heat of July, here’s a glimpse at where every B1G teams stands on the 247 Sports team recruiting rankings for 2023. It includes 4 teams from the conference with top-20 rankings as things currently stand:

- No. 5 – Penn State
- No. 14 – Northwestern
- No. 15 – Iowa
- No. 20 – Purdue
- No. 21 – Minnesota
- No. 33 – Rutgers
- No. 34 – Michigan State
- No. 39 – Wisconsin
- No. 40 – Nebraska
- No. 42 – Illinois
- No. 44 – Maryland
- No. 50 – Michigan
- No. 68 – Indiana
