Lou Holtz trolls Ryan Day, saying Notre Dame would only lose to preserve OSU coach's job
Lou Holtz is at it again with Ryan Day.
The legendary Notre Dame head coach took to social media to jab the Ohio State head coach ahead of Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship.
Addressing a segment from The Pat McAfee Show, Holtz made a stinging comment aimed at Day’s job status.
“If Notre Dame doesn’t win, it’s because we want to preserve Ryan Day’s job,” Holtz posted.
Addressing questions about his health, Holtz added, “I was originally going to be at the game in spirit, but now I’ll be dragging my body along as well.”
Notre Dame and Ohio State faced off in 2023. Holtz questioned the toughness of Day’s Buckeyes. After OSU’s win, Day memorably called out Holtz in his postgame interview.
The Holtz-Day feud has been a small storyline ahead of Monday night’s title clash. Day says the two have not spoken since the 2023 back and forth through the press.
We’ll find out Monday night which coach gets the last laugh as the Irish and Buckeyes face off in Atlanta for the national championship.
