An Ohio State legend and Heisman Trophy winner will be back inside the Horseshoe on Saturday afternoon for the Buckeyes’ spring game.

Friday, Ohio State announced that former Buckeyes running back Eddie George will be in Columbus on Saturday for the team’s spring game. He will serve as the honorary captain for the event.

George played at Ohio State from 1992-95, totaling 3,768 yards and 44 touchdowns in his career. He was the winner of the 1995 Heisman Trophy after rushing for 1,927 yards and 24 touchdowns.

In addition to the Heisman Trophy, George was also named the B1G Most Valuable Player and earned unanimous All-American honors to go along with a host of other awards from his 1995 campaign.

George’s No. 27 jersey has also been retired by Ohio State.

Following his college career, George went on to have a strong NFL career, playing nine seasons, eight of which were spent with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans. The running back was the NFL’s Rookie of the Year in 1996 and earned four Pro Bowl selections in his career.

George rushed for 10,041 yards and 68 touchdowns in his NFL career in the regular season. He added 776 yards and five touchdowns in his career in playoff appearances.

Ohio State’s spring game is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
