Report: Ohio State’s status for next non-conference game undecided
By Paul Harvey
Published:
Ohio State basketball had to cancel a marquee non-conference game set for Saturday. That contest against Kentucky was canceled due to COVID cases within the Buckeyes program, and their status for a Christmas week game is still undetermined.
According to Jon Rothstein with CBS Sports, Ohio State is waiting and will retest its team on Sunday. Once those tests are completed, the Buckeyes will make a determination for Tuesday’s game.
That contest is scheduled to be against UT Martin:
Ohio State will retest for COVID on Sunday and then make a determination on its status for Tuesday’s game against UT Martin, per a school spokesman. Buckeyes were initially scheduled to play Kentucky today in the CBS Sports Classic.

If the game against UT Martin is canceled, Ohio State’s next regularly scheduled game would be Dec. 28 against New Orleans. The Buckeyes are set to resume B1G play on Jan. 2.
Rutgers and Penn State are also B1G programs currently dealing with COVID cases. Rutgers canceled a Saturday game vs. Rider while Penn State has already canceled a game next week against Quinnipiac.
