Rutgers is looking to improve to 2-0 this weekend as it travels to Syracuse.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), there’s a good chance the Scarlet Knights accomplish that goal on Saturday. FPI is projecting a 65.8 percent chance that Rutgers will defeat Syracuse in Week 2.

Rutgers is coming off an impressive Week 1 victory over Temple. The Scarlet Knights prevailed 61-14 in that game, which included a moment where the Melton brothers scored back-to-back touchdowns.

The Scarlet Knights are beginning to show progress in Greg Schiano’s second stint as head coach. Rutgers is a slight betting favorite over the Orange this season, marking the first time it has been a favorite over a Power 5 nonconference opponent since 2015.

Rutgers is also getting reinforcements at the quarterback position this week. 2022 quarterback commitment Gavin Wimsatt officially enrolled at Rutgers this week and could play at some point this season.

Kick off is at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday.
